Good morning everyone, I am from Spain. I don’t know if you know but a little more than a month ago in Valencia there were torrential rains that made the river overflowed in a huge way: it took a bridge, burst a dam, dragged cars, trucks, trees, animals and people. Unfortunately, 222 people died. The tragedy was devastating. My question is, will these extreme phenomena continue to happen? Are they due to climate change? I know that in this area of Valencia there have always been floods but we have never seen anything like this. Houses, premises, garages, businesses, have been totally destroyed. The recovery is going to be long and costly. It will affect the economy of the country and of course all the families in the affected areas. At the environmental level I don’t know what it will mean, but I have seen in the news that the crops are completely devastated. Is there any way to avoid this in the future? What are the policies we should follow to avoid this kind of events? Is it inevitable or is there really a solution that we can create together to stop climate change? I, personally, am afraid and I don’t know if there is any way to stop this.
