You will be given a short reading passage about a world holiday. Other students will be given different reading passages. Read yours carefully and complete your vacation outline on the “World Holiday Research Form.”

Try completing the “World Holiday Research Form” by asking other students questions to get the information you need.

Ask questions like these
What global vacation do you have?
When and where did this holiday start?
What day is your holiday celebrated?
What is the purpose of this holiday?
How many people and countries participate?
What kind of activities and events take place?

Listen and write down the answers to your questions. Do not read or copy other students’ reading passages or notes. If you don’t understand, ask them to repeat or explain it to you. For example: “Excuse me, can you repeat that?
Excuse me, how do you spell it?
Excuse me, could you explain it?
Discuss with your partner

  1. Which of these World Festivals would you most like to participate in? Why?
  2. 2. Think of some activities or events that you could organize in your area to celebrate the World Festival you have chosen.
  3. 3. Think of another World Festival that you think should be celebrated (e.g. Arbor Day).
  4. 4. Think of some activities or events that people in your area could participate in to celebrate your World Festival (e.g., tree planting, tree climbing race, etc.).
